08-04-2019 – Yeeeaahhh!

Yo funsters!

Well, another busy weekend goes flying past, narrowly missing my head, and hurtles noisily into the wall behind me with a sickening thud.

I’m not entirely sure what that last sentence was about, but I for one rather enjoyed it.

Friday’s outing to the Trout in Keynsham was – for once – a rather dry affair, we managed to get through the night without any of us or our lovely expensive equipment getting covered in beer. Nonetheless, there was a satisfactory amount of tomfoolery going on – this week’s air guitar champion was the lovely Holly (apparently), who rocked out far above and beyond the call of duty, putting the regular Trout loonies to shame, in fact. Well played, that girl!

Saturday arrives, and Emma and I successfully found out way to the Liberal Club in Colerne, which it transpires is a small village nestling amidst the “wealth of Wiltshire” (as it used to say in the pie adverts), and not somewhere in Switzerland as I had previously surmised.

The staff are lovely and help us haul all the kit in – after a brief survey we decide that the stage is only really big enough for Ben and Stuart, and thus Emma and I will conduct proceedings from the floor. As start time approaches, the place is almost empty; punters trickle in when we start playing, and by the end of the first set, the place is nicely full and suitably lively. By halfway through the second set, there is even a couple in their seventies boogieing merrily away, and by the end Emma is fully occupied shepherding punters off the stage. We may have to get bouncers at this rate.

More bouncing coming up this weekend…

Friday 12th – Railway Tavern, Fishponds
One of our favourite local gigs – we just likes the people, so we does.

Saturday 13th – Royal Oak, MarlboroughBack out in Wiltshire, a large pub right on the main drag. And that’s all I have to say about that.

Well, that’s just about it for this week’s episode – it seems there’s been an unseasonal rush on terrible humour, and so the joke cupboard is bare this week. Contributions welcome, there is a reasonable chance that we’ll publish either the best or the worst one in next week’s episode. “Til then
