Crumpets

29-09-2025 – Door Staff

Hello, my little buttered crumpets!

My, that was quite the weekend.

Friday night at the Cat on Cheltenham Road, and after a quiet start, things soon livened up and, I have to say, ended up being enormous fun. Shout out to all the lovely folk who got stuck into the boogieing; we haven’t had quite that much fun for a while. And we’re looking forward to seeing most of them again when we play the Lagoon on Halloween. Should be a blast.

Saturday’s jaunt down to Taunton, with Suzi covering for Abby on vocals, was pretty damn good fun, too. Massive vote of thanks to the lovely door staff who insisted on helping carry all the kit in and out as well, bless ‘em. There was only one sad note to the evening – we were delighted to see our old pal Scotty arrive at the door, with his daughter Summer – they’d come all the way down to see us, at Summer’s request, because the last time she saw us play with Suzi, Summer was a mere 14 months old, and sensibly had been given a huge pair of yellow ear defenders to wear. And, somehow, she remembered the occasion!

Unfortunately, it turns out the pub is an 18+ only venue, and poor Summer fell a little short of the requirement; so reluctantly Scotty had to take the poor lass home. Still, we’ve worked out the next time she’ll be able to come and see us, so hopefully there’ll be a happy ending.

And, this week, a bit more Bristol-based malarkey…

Fri 3rd – O’Neill’s, Baldwin Street
Back in the madhouse again, covering for a cancelled band, as I recall. Wondering what the crowd will do to top last time’s performance…

Sat 4th – Lord Raglan, Nag’s Head Hill
The home of the slightly-unsettling-sounding Michelle’s Dildo Bingo, they’re actually a lovely bunch in here. Steve particularly likes it in this one, as he gets a little stage all to himself, plus his own personal air conditioning unit – whilst the rest of us plebs are packed sweatily on the floor beneath. Well, you have to give bass players their little moments, don’t you….
