We hope you’re all enjoying the glorious unpredictable variability of the British summer…
Well, we’re here to report an extremely enjoyable Saturday night down at the Poacher in Portishead.
Lovely friendly staff, a very enthusiastic bunch of punters who were very clearly up for enjoying themselves, and we were delighted to see some lovely friends that we haven’t caught up with for a while – plus our occasional special guest star vocalist Paige, who came and belted her way through a couple of tunes with us and had the whole place bouncing up and down.
But a special mention has to go to local music enthusiast Roscoe – a gentleman of some 70+ years, who was up and dancing about from the very first number. After a few tunes, he briefly disappeared, and then re-emerged wearing a gold lamé jacket and a mirror chrome top hat to continue his gyrations.
A little later, I look across to find he is now dancing around sporting a rather fine mullet wig…
Abby wanted to keep him.
All in all, a hilarious evening, and we’re looking forward to going back there soon.
Meantime, however, we’ll be in other places…
Thursday 25th – Royal Oak, Chipping Sodbury
Rock’n’roll on a school night? You’d better believe it, baby! (as we young people say). One of our “home from home” gigs, always good fun
Saturday 27th – Good Intent, Broomhill
Nice and spacious in here, so we’re considering test-driving our spare PA for the night, just to see how it sounds. While we’re experimenting, I wonder if I should bring my twin-neck along…
