Ahoy ahoy!
Well, after an unusually prolonged summer break – we’re back!
What with one thing and another, it’s been six weeks since the last AUF gig – well, almost. There was one friend-of-a-friend birthday party we were asked to play a couple of weekends ago, but with Abby away, Steve in France, and Stuart in Canada, it looked like we were going to have to disappoint them.
However, thanks to the services of my excellent drummer friend Rob, AUF alumnus bassist from 10 years ago Martin, and my marvellously obliging daughter Lily, with a single evening of rehearsal, we actually managed to put together a rather convincing AUF tribute act.
A remarkable evening, a remarkable crowd, and one day I’ll tell you all about it. For now, suffice to say that if the “dungarees and mullet” combo ever comes back into fashion, you heard it here first….
Anyway, the “real” AUF is wheeling back into action again this weekend, don’t say we didn’t warn you….
Friday 27th – The Crab Apple, Clevedon
We played here before, but it was so long ago that I don’t really remember what it was like. My calendar tells me it’s an 8:30 start, though, so it’s probably not quite the Viper Rooms in LA….
Saturday 28th – The Lord Raglan, Nags Head Hill
It’s a bit cosy in here, but they make up for it by all being as mad as a box of frogs. We’ll fit right in…just.
That’s your lot for now, we’ll catch up with some of y’all soon….
Square on
